We awoke early and had a leisurely get up. We had a room-only deal at the hotel so we
went walkabout to find something to eat and to enjoy the Sydney waterfront. We knew that the ship would have docked by
now, so were keen to get photos. We
walked along the waterfront which has its own ‘Walk of Fame’ which honours
Australians, some of whom we knew while others were unfamiliar to us and why
Anthony Trollope was among them we weren’t quite sure!
We enjoyed the Opera House peninsula, land sacred to the
Aboriginal people and acknowledged with gratitude by the authorities on sign
boards around the area. The sun was
coming out and the temperature becoming very pleasant on what was a quiet
Sunday morning in Sydney. We had breakfast
in the Opera House Bar with a Harbour Bridge, cruise ship and harbour view. A cheese and ham toasted sandwich plus a pot
of tea and a cappuccino came to around £20.
On the way back to the hotel we searched for Starbuck’s mugs and looked
in one or two souvenir shops.
