Our Room

We got to the hotel pretty quickly and we were upgraded foc to a better room.  Some people settled in very quickly while others did the blog!

Coming in to land

Our first view of Sydney Harbor

We came in to land with a cracking view of the Harbour Bridge (top centre) and the Opera House to the right of it.

Our First Ever View of Oz!

We made landfall north of Perth but I didn't dare open the window blind as the cabin was in 'night-time sleep' mode.  When I thought it was finally safe to push the blind up, this was our view - across the Great Australian Bight to the mainland.

View from the Tail Fin

Etihad have a camera on the tail fin and this is the sort of view you get ....

Crossing the Equator

Elizabeth was constantly asking me to tell her when the red line of the equator was visible from the window.

She was asleep at the time so I took a photo of it.  You may think it's just the sunrise but hardy travellers know better!

This is Abu Dhabi

.... but it could be anywhere.

Took off a little late this morning but uneventful flight with very little turbulence at any point.  Now in transit at Abu Dhabi with flight on to Sydney about 90 minutes away.

We had to go through security in transit here but much more cursory than at Manchester, e.g. no belts off, laptops can stay in their skins, coats can stay on ....

We're 4 hours ahead of you now and it has been dark for some time.
